We are delighted to announce that the 2020 Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation Ministerial (CEM11/MI-5) meetings will take place in Viña del Mar, Chile from June 2nd-4th, 2020.
As countries around the world work to achieve a sustainable energy sector, the CEM/MI meetings are effective fora to foster collaboration and drive concrete action that will enable members to reach their commitments and goals. Ministers and their delegations, private sector partners, civil society members, and other guests will gather in Viña del Mar for discussions focused on furthering our collective efforts in clean energy and innovation.
In particular, Mission Innovation is now at a critical juncture. As members look to shape MI’s future beyond its first 5-year mandate, the Fifth Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-5) provides a crucial platform for members to share progress so far and to build further momentum towards future action and ambition in clean energy innovation. Here, Ministers will make a decision on the future of the initiative, with a view to launching a second phase at COP26 in November 2020. They will lead dialogues with the private sector, researchers, and innovators to shape new topics and commitments.
The opening ceremony of CEM11/MI-5 will take place on the afternoon of June 2nd, followed by the CEM plenary on June 3rd and the MI plenary on June 4th, 2020.
Further details and logistical information to come.
