The Government of Chile will host the Sixth Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-6) alongside the Twelfth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM12) from May 31 to June 6, 2021 in a virtual format.

This will be the most important international clean energy meeting of the year to advance the deployment and innovation of clean energy technologies worldwide. CEM and MI are both at critical moments as members work together to develop and launch ambitious next phases of both initiatives (CEM 3.0 and MI 2.0) at these upcoming Ministerials. Together we will boost the commitment, cooperation and dialogue among the world’s largest economies in their respective energy transformation processes in light of the turning point for the energy sector that COP26 presents in the context of broader climate action.

CEM12/MI-6 will be a digital, dynamic and diverse virtual event with a state-of-the-art digital content platform featuring a range of content including side-events, trigger talks, podcasts, plenaries and launches.

MI-6 will be the stand out clean energy innovation summit of 2021. Open to participation from Ministers of countries committing to membership of the second phase, the summit will focus on the high-profile launch of MI 2.0. This will include the launch of innovation missions with global goals, new initiatives to strengthen cooperation, and national announcements around pioneering clean energy solutions. There will be two main segments, both in virtual format: an exclusive closed door ministerial dialogue on the pathway to COP26 and innovation action needed over the next five years, scheduled on 31 May at 14:00 CEST; and the public launch of MI 2.0 scheduled to start on 2 June at 14:00 CEST.

More information to come.
