Many of the memorable moments from MI-3 have been brought together in a Twitter moment including photographs and videos from the event.  Interviews with #CleanEnergy leaders conducted at the event will be published on Twitter in the coming weeks, see the interviews with co-host Minister Baylan and with Christiana Figueres. Many exciting announcements were made at MI-3 including around forty new programmes, ranging from international partnerships to initiatives at country level aligned with the MI Innovation Challenges (IC). Highlights include:

  • An £11 million ($20 million CAD) UK-Canada collaboration on smart grid and energy storage innovation.
  • An annual $1 million USD programme to support international collaborations around ICs from the Republic of Korea.
  • A Challenge from Sweden promoting disruptive innovations through public-private procurement partnerships. The Challenge is open to international partners including MI members.
  • An International Incubator in Clean Energy to be launched by India with the aim of leveraging international collaboration to support innovators.
  • A CCUS centre and plant along with a new smart grid centre in Mexico in which MI countries can become partners.
  • The launch of the World Economic Forum’s White Paper “Accelerating Sustainable Energy Innovation”. It includes six bold ideas to accelerate sustainable energy innovation, the first is to establish an independent international sustainable energy innovation accelerator fund.
  • The announcement of pledges from the public-private roundtables on Twitter (CCUS, Batteries, Hydrogen, Heating and Cooling, Grids). These will be followed up by the attendees from the relevant ICs.
