Clean Energy RD&D investments
Supporting innovations for the energy transition is an essential element of Germany’s strategy for reaching its ambitious climate goals. In addition to the clean energy RD&D funding provided within its 7th Energy Research Programme, Germany has recently launched several large-scale programmes that match the scope of MI2.0 and will be included in future reporting. These include innovation measures in the context of the National Hydrogen Strategy, programmes for the decarbonisation of industrial processes and for negative emissions technologies, as well as programmes on battery innovation. It is therefore expected that there will be a significant increase in funding for clean energy and net zero innovation.
