Strengthened Cooperation

The United States plans to take a leadership position in Mission Innovation by:

  • Hosting the CEM/MI co-located Ministerials in 2022
  • Co-leading the Zero-Emission Shipping Mission, including shaping the implementation plan, leading one of the three pillars, taking a leadership position on the Steering Committee and in the Secretariat, shaping the research and work plans, and hosting workshops, among other planned work
  • Co-leading the Hydrogen Mission, including shaping the implementation plan, and raising ambition globally and domestically to drive down the cost of hydrogen
  • Co-leading the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Innovation Challenge
  • Seeking to develop and co-lead with MI partners a new Mission on Carbon Dioxide Removal, to launch at COP
