Clean Energy RD&D investments

Italy is very much committed in increasing clean energy RD&D investments in the next phase of MI through investments and supporting the Research Centres as well as the private sector. In particular, Italy invested the amount of 222.6 M€. In the next 3 years (2021-2022-2023), Italy intends to invest for R&D activities 241 M€. In the stage of the programme, three main sectors have been identified: smart grids, hydrogen, innovative energy materials. Therefore, the above mentioned funds will be dedicated to the fundamental research of the three indicated components. Italy intends to dedicate part of these funds for calls for proposals in order to realize some demo projects. The main Italian goal is to reach EU decarbonisation targets by 2030 and full decarbonisation targets by 2050.
